Illustrators 'talk' with pictures and the images they use must be carefully chosen. My school programs provide a unique opportunity for students to understand the importance of communicating clearly and effectively.

Depending on the age group and session length, each class is challenged to solve a 'message problem'. It may be to create an illustration for a picture book sentence or an ad for an imaginary product. The students, as art directors, are quickly drawn into the process of building an illustration which most clearly conveys their answer. Older students must decide who their message is intended for and what image would best reach them. younger students grapple with problems such as how to show quick movement - without using 'swoosh' lines.

The very young will learn that anyone can be an illustrator as I simplifies the act of drawing and demonstrates how anyone can learn to teach themselves.

Information about my program is available by contacting me directly or through Peachtree Publishers.
